Financial Independence, Retire Early

Independence has more than one date.

Coast is when compounding can carry the rest. Barista, Lean, and Fat model different mixes of work and of enough. fjordFIRE puts each on your timeline, from your real expenses, returns, and currency mix, for every person in the household.

Saved plans, compared side by side

Put a number on the big decisions

A career break. A move abroad. A child. An inheritance. Each one bends the date. In fjordFIRE you model them as life events, save them as named plans, and compare them side by side. The big decisions get an actual number attached while you’re still deciding.

A fjordFIRE scenario view: a projected plan against the baseline, showing how life events like having a kid or a career break push the FI date from February 2038 to December 2040, with each event's impact listed in years.
Two life events, and the date moves from Feb 2038 to Dec 2040, each cost shown in years.

Change one number, watch the date move

The big decisions aren’t the only lever. Nudge your saving, your spending, or your expected return, and the freedom date shifts as you go. It is the fastest way to feel a trade-off: a little more set aside each month against a few months off the clock, before you commit to anything.

A what-if panel in fjordFIRE: sliders for monthly saving, spending, and investment return alongside life-event toggles for a child and a career break, showing this adjusted scenario reaches financial independence in September 2035, 2.4 years sooner than the baseline plan.
Move the dials and the plan responds: trimming spending and saving more pulls this one 2.4 years sooner.

Every date comes with its odds

A single tidy year hides the uncertainty behind it. Whatever you set the dials to, fjordFIRE runs your real expenses and inflation-adjusted returns through a thousand market futures, good runs and bad, so each date arrives as a probability rather than false precision.

You see the odds of reaching it, and whether the money lasts once you do. The math runs on one well-sourced baseline, with the 16 regions differing only in the inflation measured where you live, and it recalculates on your monthly check-in.

Monte Carlo projection from fjordFIRE: a 90.5 percent chance of reaching financial independence within 20 years, with probability bands and survival probabilities at 30, 40, and 50 years.
A thousand market futures behind every estimate.

One plan for two people

Most FIRE math quietly assumes one person. fjordFIRE plans per member and rolls it up: each of you keeps your own income, pensions, and progress, and the household view puts them into one plan you can both read. The Household / You toggle runs through the whole product, so your own date and the shared one are always a click apart.

Lena and Rohan check in separately. The household picture is both of them.

Your other goals, on the same plan

The freedom date isn’t the only one that matters. A house in one country, a family fund in another, a sabbatical somewhere else: each goal rides along the same plan, with its own projected date and a clear read on whether it is ahead of target or behind. The trade-offs you make for the FI date show up in your other goals too.

A 'Dreams in this plan' panel in fjordFIRE: goals riding along the path to FI, each with a projected landing date and status. Bergen House Down Payment is 11 months ahead (reaching it July 2027), the India Family Trust Fund is about 2 years behind (March 2030 against a December 2027 target), and the Valencia Sabbatical Fund is about 5 years behind (June 2035 against a June 2030 target).
Every goal placed on the path to FI, ahead or behind, in plain sight.

Built for money that crosses borders

Salary in one currency, savings in another, family obligations in a third: most FIRE math just assumes that away. fjordFIRE holds 160+ currencies across 170+ countries, converted at daily rates, so your number holds up wherever your life is based. If a move is on the table, the relocation side of fjordFIRE shows how much sooner you reach it.
